This One Time... at Brand Camp

Come for creative product campaign ideas and branding advice. Stick around for obscure movie references.

A friend recently emailed me pictures of some really creative inventions. I think a few of them would make awesome promotional items. Maybe someday!

Everyone knows the cream is the best part.

This gadget gives my favorite pizza cutter a run for its money.

This is so genius. I mean, telling the story of your injury to every inquiring stranger gets old really fast. Save your breath and print a pictograph of the incident on the sling.

Perfect for eating lunch at your desk. Though I admit I get a certain amount of pleasure blasting crumbs out of my keyboard with compressed air.

Fact. There can never be too many USB ports on a computer. I don't think this exact item is currently available for branding, but there are several unique USB hubs already on the promotional product market.

Ugh, how did I not think of this myself??

I think this is a neat idea, but I don't really see how it adds all that much value. I mean, is it so hard to read the measurements on the side of the glass? I guess it would come in handy for baking, when it's extremely important to be exact.

Have you seen any neat products lately? Tell us about them!

Also known as "electronic pickpocketing". Have you heard of this?

Many of you probably received our email this week that contained a video featuring our favorite items for 2012. I also discussed several of these items here, here and here.

One item that I omitted from my blog recaps, but that deserves special attention, are these ID shield sleeves from 3M.

3M developed this product in response to the growing threat of electronic or digital pickpocketing. The sleeves, sized to fit your credit card, ID, building access card or passport, are waterproof and have a protective shielding. With an imprint opportunity on the sleeve top, this would be a great promotional item for companies in banking, security or travel.

Dealing with credit card companies over fraudulent charges is a total pain in the neck. I can't imagine how unpleasant it would be to sort out a stolen passport.

Have you ever had an idea that looks great on paper, but suffers in execution? That can happen a lot in the world of promotional products.

You see, a lot of common decoration techniques (screen print, pad print, silk screen) are not especially friendly to sketches or hand drawn artwork. 99% of the time, manufacturers require vectored artwork for custom branded items.

Not sure what 'vectored' means? Check out our art guidelines for an explanation.
If creative inspiration only struck while working in Adobe Illustrator, the vectored art requirement would be no trouble at all. But, as we all know, that's never the case.

A great design idea can come to mind at any time. More often than not, the only material at hand is a receipt or a napkin, hence the expression, "a napkin sketch". How do you go about getting that sketch onto a T-shirt, bandanna, car magnet, banner or mug?

That's where we come in.
Our graphic design team is here to turn your ideas into reality. We know exactly how artwork needs to be prepared for a flawless product, and we'll make sure it's done correctly. Even when supplied with just a rough sketch, we are able to adapt the design to print-friendly vectored artwork.

We're here to make sure your designs look great on paper and everything else.
